Various harvest season and ”Cornell” floral preservatives were studied to evaluate their effect on the vase life of three cultivars of roses cv. Christian Dior, Super Star and Queen Elizabeth after simulating the export condition. Summer cut roses had 2 to 3 days of vase life, while winter and spring cut roses had 4 to 5 days vase life. The average of vase life harvested from May 1975 through April 1976 of three cultivars, cv. Christian Dior, Super Star and Queen Elizabeth were 3.7, 3.0 and 4.0 days respectively, whereas, the average of vase life in ”Cornell” floral preservative solution were 6.3, 5.9 and 6.1 days respectively. The ”Cornell” preservative solution had been shown bettor results in summer than in winter harvest season. |
