The object of this experiment is to find out effective chemicals, chemical treatment methods, and storage conditions to improve the chilling tolerance of detached banana fruits. Polyphenol oxidase inhibitors and antioxidants could delay the decrease of ascorbic acid content in pulp and accerate the decrease of thannin content in peel. Polyphenol oxidase inhibitors (2-Mercapto-ethanol, 2-Mercapto benzothiazol, Dimethyl sulfoxide Sodium diethyl dithiocarbamate, Thio urea. Oxalic acid, EDTA, Tea, Phenol, Alar); antioxidants (Ascorbic acid; Na3S2O3); membrane intergrity protectors (Ca So2 glycerol) and cell activator (N6-BA) could enhance chilling tolerance of banana fruits And, TBZ could ameliorate chilling in addition to its effect as a fungicide Chilling injury could not be alleviated in hypobaric storage and chemical effects were not significiant. But alternating temperatures could lessen chilling injury. |
