香蕉雄花苞之摘除，對產量影響頗大。就仙人蕉及北蕉為例，摘蕾蕉株平均產量比不摘蕾者分別重1.89 kg及1.24 kg，差異顯著。此外，果指之發育摘蕾蕉株較不摘蕾者為速，由此推論前者果實發育所需日數也較少。
