The association of dahlia (Dahlia pinnata Cav.) with VAM fungi was intensively studied. The dahlia cultivar Figalo inoculated with vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in different day/night temperature or at different phosphorous level resulted in: (1) The optimum temperature for dahlia seedling growth, flowering and tuberous root formation was 20/15℃ (day/night temperature). (2) The mycorrhizal association could significantly enhance plant growth, tuberous root formation, early flowering, and improved flower quality. (3) The application of phosphorous fertilizer can be replace by mycorrhizal association. The dahlia cultivar Early Bird inculated with VAMF resulted in higher tuberous root fresh weight than non-mycorrhizal control. |
