Potted miniature roses 'Lavender Jewel' and 'Orange Sunblaze' were pruned by different ways for enhancing to have better quality quickly. That mans the canopy shading area (CSA) was greater than the theoretical standard of canopy shading area (TSCSA), and the dwarfer plant had more shoots and flowers in short time. In winter, the following pruning methods on 'Lavender Jewel' got better quality, 1. Plant was pruned at the position where scale leaves were cut (Scale cut) at the first flower flower flush and at the position where two elongating internodes left (middle cut) was pruned at the second flower flush. 2. Plant was done middle cut two times. 3. Plant was pruned at the position where all elongating internodes were cut (low cut) first, in the following at the position where the upper two leaves were cut (high cut). In spring, two times of middle cut was the best pruning. On 'Orange Sunblaze', in winter, plant done a high cut first, and followed by a middle cut or low cut got better quality. In spring, plant done a middle cut first and a high cut in the following got the best quality. To do a middle cut, by pinching 'Lavender Jewel' when the third internode developed enhanced branching. On 'Orange Sunblaze' to prune at middle position when calyx unfolded got more CSA. |
