In order to improve the postharvest technique of leafy vegetables in Taipei suburbs, the experiment was conducted in Hsin-Chuang and Lu-Chou area, The residue of pesticide was inspected before harvesting. Vegetables were graded and bunched delicately right after harvesting and were shipped to supermarket by farmers themselves. Transportation and packaging cost increased 4.3 NT dollar per kilogram bet loss was 30% less than before. Consumers like the quality products and sales increased from 9,000 kilogram per month to 45,000 kilogram per month this year. Leafy vegetables distributed through supermarket has a positive effect on farm management. Now farmers use pesticide more carefully to avoid leaving residue of pesticide on vegetables. They pay more attention to postharvest and handling technique. Farmers are getting more intelegent in production planning, in improving technique to grow quality products and in supplying on time the supermarket with quality vegetables. |
