Three-year-old potted mango trees were treated with 14C-CO2 in order tostudy the translocation and utilization of photosynthates during the sprouting and blooming period. Before sprouting, there was an apparent downward transport of photosynthates and a partial transverse transport (form bark into wood). A very small amount of upward transport was also detected. Soon after sprouting, there was a decrease of the radioactivity in the bark and anincrease of that in the wood. White in its new formed organs, namely the new shoot and inflorescences possessed a relative high radioactivity. |
