In order to study the suitable harvesting time to extract red pigment of amaranth, A10 strain rich in Betacyanin breaded by Tauoyuan District Agricaltural Improvement Station was sowed in different season to investigate the difference of growth, yield and red pigment content. The result showed the growth and red pigment content which were effected by temperature and intensity of solar radiation, In July, with high temperature and high solar radiation, it grew faster and could be harvested on 40 days after sowing, the extracted pigment (dried wt) estimated was about 4.5 kg/1000 m^2. In March, with lower temperature and lower solar radiation, it grew slowly and could be harvested on 50 daye after sowing, the extracted pigment was about 0.45 kg/1000 m^2. In May, with temperature gradually increasing and could be harvested on 50 days after sowing, the extracted pigment was about 2.5 kg/1000 m^2. In September, under high and following by reducing temperature, it could be harvested on 38 days after sowing, the extracted pigment was about 2.9 kg/1000 m^2. |
