The detection of GM-food has its necessity due to food safety regulation, and the labeling of GM-food will be practiced by 2003 in Taiwan. In this study, products such as soyamilk, tofu, dried tofu, yaba, su-ju, soybean protein, vegetable meat and vegetable soybean made of Roundup Ready(superscript TM) Soybean (RRS) were detected by multiplex polymerase chain reaction. By this method, it showed a limit of detection for reference samples containing 5% (w/w) RRS of products soybean, soyamilk, tofu, dried tofy and yaba. This method can be used to detect su-ji and soybean protein efficiently but not in vegetable meat due to its DNA degradation. We also found that no RRS gene been detected in vegetable soybean harvested in Taiwan. |
