This article aims to analyze the formation of spatial conflicts and the ways that different actors negotiated the divergent spatial benefits in the process of local economic development. Taking the transformation of the most high-speed developing Hengchun area as example, we probe the production of land benefits under the construction interests in the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium Marine ecological Museum located in Checheng, and investigate the mediation mechanisms of the related actors. From the empirical study, we found the mechanisms of ”Amoeba model”, ”Octopus model” and ”Nan-ren Hu model” that could be used to explain the complex interaction of the local factions, consortiums and local government during the spatial formation of economic development. Moreover, we argued that the problematic from the geographical perspective could be helpful in developing the new approaches to the study of local factions. |
