Lu Jiuyuan was one of the most important Southern Song Confucian thinkers whose primordial preoccupation centers on the “philosophy of mind”. To him, such philosophy was far more than an inner learning or interior quest, which, arguably, was supposed to deal with many exterior, concrete, and sociopolitical issues. Based on this premise, the present essay intended to answer the following questions: What is the relationship between the philosophy of mind and the method of statecraft? How can the former be practiced to perfect the latter? And, in which ways does the ideal of such philosophy manifest itself in the case of Lu Jiuyuan as a Confucian? |
