For us living in the AI era of the 21st century, it is an unavoidable task to think about the fields in which we are engaged in relation to AI. The purpose of this paper was to attempt to support Japanese literature research using AI text mining technology. Specifically, this paper choices the subject of research; “ Immortal Island “ in Yoko Tawada's “The Emissary”, which won the 2018 Japan Foundation Award and won the most prestigious national book award in the United States in November of the same year. Another reason for this choice is to compare it with the “immortal island” that author has been studying for many years in order to identify the difference from conventional literary research. As a result of analyzing “Immortal Island” using AI's text mining technology, it is not comparable to the elaboration of research results through the careful reading of conventional literary works, but it is possible to support reading to some extent using AI's text mining technology. Currently, new programs are being developed every day in information and communication technology. For example, the expansion of the IPA dictionary for MeCab edited based on newspaper articles can be used to support Japanese literature research with AI technology that is evolving rapidly. In literary research, with the goal of utilizing AI technology in literary research, the results produced in collaboration with AI are expected based on the skill of reading techniques that literary researchers have used to date. |
