The object of this study is the application the smart Magnetorheological Damper. First, the performance test of the Magnetorheological Damper, manufactured by NCREE, is used to verify its performance. Through the system identification, the nonlinear numerical model of the smart MR damper is built and also verified by the experimental tests. Finally, this smart MR damper is applied to the three-story benchmark building model in NCREE as the structural control system. The results from numerical simulation show that the smart MR damper can reduce the vibration of the benchmark model effectively in different kinds of earthquake excitations. |
