太空級精密陀螺儀是高精準衛星姿軌控制與發射載具導控不可或缺的重要元件,也是各太空大國的輸出管制品。為解決台灣高精度陀螺儀不易獲得的困境,同時也為了建立我國航太工業重要關鍵零組件自製能力,太空中心近年來整合國內產學研界能量共同研製精密光纖陀螺儀,經過數年的努力,除了已完成高可靠度單模光纖、抗輻射光纖光源與單軸及三軸光纖陀螺儀外,2012年更進一步開發太空規封裝的光纖與光電元組件及完成太空級四軸光纖陀螺儀工程體,其角速度飄移穩定度達到外購商用光纖陀螺儀精度的20倍。 The space-grade high performance fiber optic gyroscope(FOG) is a key component for many precision attitudeand orbital control systems onboard satellites, and in the guidance and control systems of many launchers.The high performance FOG is also an export-controlled item guarded by all space superpowers. To remedy thedifficulties in procuring precision gyros from abroad, and to establish the self-reliant key component manufacturecapability of the local aerospace industry, NSPO led an integrated product development team(IPDT) consisting ofresearch institutes, universities, and private companies for the development of the precision FOG. So far, domesticproducts such as high reliability single-mode fiber, radiation-hardened fiber light source, the single-axis FOG, andthe 3-axis FOG IRU(Inertial Reference Unit) are available. In addition, in 2012 we developed space packages forFOG fiber and electro-optic components, and fabricated a space-grade 4-axis FOG IRU Engineering prototypeachieving bias stability twenty times better than those of commercial-grade FOGs not under export control.One of the key components for the NSPO space-grade FOG is a patented radiation-hardened fiber light sourceinvented by scientists from NSPO and National Taiwan University. This is the first fiber light source able to achievetotal recovery of radiation-induced-attenuation over a wide spectral range. The invention received a Silver Medalaward at the 2012 Taipei International Invention Show and Technomart. Over the years, NSPO has led an IPDTteam who established a technical foundation needed for local companies to develop space photonics products, especially the FOG based IRU which is to be employed in the FORMOSAT-7 satellite.
