福爾摩沙衛星五號（以下稱為福衛五號）為我國第一顆自主發展的遙測衛星，其任務軌道為高度720公里再訪週期2天的太陽同步軌道，福衛五號將攜帶對地解析度2米（全色態）及4米（多光譜）光學遙測酬載，執行對地觀測任務。福衛五號計畫除將繼續提供全球影像服務任務外，並期能藉由本計畫的執行，建置我國光學遙測酬載與衛星本體研製能量。
FORMOSAT-5 is the first remote sensing satelliteprogram to demonstrate the self-reliant spacetechnology in Taiwan. The satellite will carry an electroopticalRemote Sensing Instrument(RSI) with groundresolutions of 2m panchromatic band and 4m multispectrumbands to perform earth observation. Thesatellite will be deployed into a sun-synchronous orbitwith 720-km altitude and a revisit cycle of 2 days.FORMOSAT-5 will serve as a follow-on mission ofFORMOSAT-2 to continuously provide images fordomestic and global users. |
