It is known that swelling can have a dramatic effect on the diffusion of drug molecules within polymeric membranes. As the degree of swelling increases, the diffusion coefficient of drug molecules also increases, however, how the swelling agent affects the drug diffusion at a microscopic level still remains unclear. For this reason, molecular dynamics simulations were adopted in this work in order to obtain deeper insight into the interrelationship between the polymer, the swelling agent, and the drug molecules. |
