In this work, we studied the thermal characteristics of a dry-type transformer under various loading conditions. The geometrical model consists of two arrays of rectangular heat-dissipating blocks arranged in line inside of a transformer tank. A two-dimensional, steady turbulent flow is simulated. Standard k-e turbulence model is adopted. The set of transport equations is solved numerically using the finite volume technique. Non-uniform grid nodes of approximately 29000 are used. To capture the details, finer grids are used in the boundary layer and in the areas of large gradients. |
