An 80-ps soliton-like pulse passing through a FBG or an apodized(fiber Bragg Grating) FBG has been demonstrated. It is found that the group velocity of the 80-ps Bragg soliton can be as slow as 50% of the light speed in an unprocessed fiber. The experimental results agree with the nonlinear Schrödinger equation(NLSE) model, however, in a high intensity regime, the NLSE cannot be used to describe pulse propagating in a PBG structure. |
