PC cluster has become the most popular platform for implementing parallel processing applications in that it offers researchers a low cost, high performance alternative to supercomputers. Also, it's reasonably easy to add more computational power to the cluster by simply adding a new PC to the network. The PC cluster was developed by scientists who were searching for a cheaper, better way to conduct high-volume computing and data processing. By assembling the miscellaneous hardware and software components they ultimately built the Do It Yourself(DIY) supercomputer. |
