The Relationship between Islam and Politics in Malaysia

本文回顧馬來西亞政教關係的歷史演變，並探討伊斯蘭教在馬來西亞的發展及其政治影響力。馬來西亞全國人口有六成以上為穆斯林，馬來西亞憲法亦明訂伊斯蘭教為馬來西亞的唯一官方宗教。在實際政治運作上，馬來西亞歷屆首相皆提出各自的伊斯蘭化政策，顯見馬來西亞伊斯蘭教與政治的關係非常緊密。除了歷史分析外，本文以「阿拉事件」為案例，探討伊斯蘭教與馬來族群利益的關係，同時也藉此分析跟伊斯蘭教相關的社會事件如何影響馬來西亞的政治發展。 This paper reviews the historical evolution of the relationship between Islam and politics in Malaysia. It also discusses the development of Islam and its political influence in the country. In Malaysia, Muslims make up more than 60% of the population, and Islam is enshrined in the Constitution as the sole official religion. Each Malaysian prime minister proposed and implemented different Islamization policies, which shows that the strong relationship between Islam and politics in the country. In addition to historical analysis, this article conducts a case study of “Allah Event” to demonstrate the inseparable relationship between Islam and the interests of the ethnic Malays. The case study also analyzes how Islam-related social events affect the political development in Malaysia.
