以臺灣視野回顧國際東洋醫學會創會42週年

Review the 42nd Anniversary of ISOM's Founding from the Perspective of Taiwan

國際東洋醫學會International Society of Oriental Medicine（ISOM）於1976年成立，由韓國、日本及臺灣三方之東方傳統醫學的醫藥專家、學者發起組成，總會設於韓國首爾。國際東洋醫學會每二年舉辦一次學術大會，為其最重要的活動之一。大會中介紹並討論了傅統醫學的傑出研究成果，廣邀世界各地傳統醫學之專家、醫者交流臨床治療經驗，提升傳統醫學的水平，進而造福民眾身體健康。國際東洋醫學會為臺灣傳統醫學唯一加入的國際組織，更是臺灣得以參與國際事務的重要管道之一，歷年來均有臺灣學者出任重要幹部，在政策制定及施行上扮演著重要角色。ISOM成立42年以來，舉辦過18次學術大會，臺灣中醫藥藉由參與相關學術活動的交流與研討，大大提升了我國中醫藥在國際上的能見度，也同時帶動國內中醫藥學術研究水準，鼓舞更多中醫藥研究人員發表研究論文與心得。一直以來，醫療外交是政府積極發展的目標，而國際東洋醫學會臺灣分會曾辦理過第12屆、第14屆、第17屆的ICOM學術大會，獲得來自全世界醫藥專家的肯定，今年11月即將辦理第19屆學術大會，期盼透過這場盛會激發新的思維以利傳統東方醫學的發展，更希望能藉此促進我國中醫藥研究與國際接軌，進而提升臺灣在國際學術上的地位及影響力。 The International Society of Oriental Medicine (ISOM), which was first held in 1976, is formed by experts in oriental traditional medicine from Korea, Japan and Taiwan. ISOM's headquarters is established in Seoul, the capital of Korea. The International Congress of Oriental Medicine (ICOM) is convened every two year and one of the most important activities of the ISOM. The ICOM presents and discusses distinguished research findings on the oriental medicine, and invites experts and scholars in the field of oriental medicine all over the world to brainstorm, report new academic research, and exchange clinical therapeutic experience. It also elevates the level of oriental medicine to benefit the health care of the public. ISOM is the only traditional medicine international organization that Taiwan has join and one of the important channels for Taiwan to participate in international affairs. For all the times, lots of Taiwanese experts and scholars serve as important cadres and play an important role in formulating policies or making decisions as well as carrying them out and closely cooperate each other. ISOM has been in existence for 42 years and held 18 academic congress. Through these congresses, it encouraged domestic citizens working in TCM fields, including clinical physicians, professors to exchange & share their research and innovative Ideas and results/ findings in the field of Traditional Medicine. It also played an important role of Taiwan in the sphere of traditional medicine and elevated at a global scale. Medical diplomacy has been the development goal of the Taiwan government. Taiwan branch of ISOM held 12th, 14th and 17th academic congress and was recognized by experts in medicine from all over the world, which with wonderful experiences of holding international academic forum. The 19th academic conference will be held in November this year in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan. Through this congress, hopes to provoke new thinking and promotes the development of traditional oriental medicine, and to promote the academic cooperation with other countries. Meanwhile, increasing the international community' s understanding about Taiwan and upgrading Taiwan' s international academic status, Taiwan will gain better international publicity.
