One-offs, Small Scale Makers and Mass Productions

The 21st century, whether the training of an individual is in art or craft, is encountering distinctive changes in the way creativity is expressed. All genres are merging together, crossing boundaries and coexisting simultaneously. Distinguishing art and craft today has become ambiguous and difficult as the two imitate one another. Such is the reality faced by contemporary craft today in Korea. Multi- roles from artistic delivery to mass production is the demand of the time simultaneously as applying new technology. The dialect between expressions has been a long term subject of debate however in my mind, the distinction between art or craft is not a matter of concern anymore, but rather, we have reach a period where we need to find a new paradigm for coexistence of the different creative genres.
