John Franklin Bobbitt (1876-1956) is an American curriculum scholar of renown. The paper was aimed at critically analyzing the descriptions about himappeared in the selected historical writings 'by Cremin, Krug, and Ravitch. Indescribing the contents of the stories, authorsbackground and booksepitome werealso included. The fundamental positions adopted by the authors were alsocategorized into defense or criticism of traditions as well. The paper was divided into six parts. After explaining the aims of the paper in the first section, and delineating the meaning of some terms and the ideal types of fundamental positions, the descriptions about Bobbitt in three selected historical writings were written in the third through the fifth sections. Two characteristic points of the paper were summarized and the directions for future research based on which were analyzed in the concluding section. |
