The curriculum development of 12-year basic education is based on the spirit of holistic education which it emphasizes that students should be the self-motivated active learner. School education should strengthen students' learning motives and enthusiasm; it should also boost students' desire to learn and courage to innovate. The 12-year basic education and adventure education are actually on the same path to reach their common goal. Children nowadays lack the ability to observe and solve problems because of the insufficient experience in life. While only relying on knowledge learned from school and at the same time busying to pursue academic success, the knowledge they received is out of touch from reality. Thus, the knowledge is not able to correlate with real-life practical experience. This study intends to probe into the meaning of education, the history of education, and the spirit of 12-year basic education curriculum. It will also discuss the connection between adventure education and 12 year basic education. Last, the explanation of the necessity for implementation of adventure education and recommendations. |
