To propose a diagnostic criterion based on yang and yin patterns in shock patients and to compare these patterns with the prognoses. The study group comprised 116 shock patients recruited from the medical intensive care unit of the Far Eastern Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. The yin-yang patterns and prognoses were followed in order to analyze their correlation. The results showed that good prognoses corresponded with a yang pattern; moderate prognoses correlated with the yin-yang mixed pattern; and poor prognoses were associated with a yin pattern. There exists a significant difference between yin and yang patterns. The poor prognoses in yin pattern is 5.6 times than yang pattern (95% confidence interval, 2.4-13.3). We concluded that the ying-yang pattern correspond with the prognoses. |
