There are numerous researches and application of additive manufacturing (3D printing) to the field of orthopedic pelvic surgeries, including preoperative virtual simulation, 3D printed patient-specific instruments, 3D printed structural bone substitute and patient-specific implants. Some techniques are proved to increase safety of the patients and to decrease the surgical time. Routine application to the market requires optimization of workflow and manufacturing. Regulation of 3D printed medical device was announced in January, 2018. Most researches were confined to categories of patient-specific instruments and preoperative simulation. Three-dimensional printing patient-specific implants has not entered the market, which are still tested clinical trials. |
