November 2017 marked the beginning of Xi Jinping’s second term, which was important because of the policies that were discussed during the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. If we focus and analyze the characteristics on the political party itself and on its domestic and foreign policies that were mentioned in the “Political Report” of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, we will know that: 1. Xi Jinping’s current regime is very stable and that the possibility of it developing into a long-term steady governing body is more likely than ever. 2. In terms of foreign policy, the administration is focusing more on the strategy that is based on “the Belt and Road Initiative,” which strives to enhance its military power influence. 3. However, China still faces both domestic and foreign challenges that seem to be never-ending. 4. As a result, the country should consider the people when tackling domestic issues and its soft-diplomacy tactics when focusing on foreign countries in order to strengthen its government regime and political status. 5. But in regards to issues that are related to “sovereignty” such as the Taiwan topic, China should continue to use a hard power strategy to keep these political issues in check. |
