As society is becoming more prosperous, people view and deal with goods in a very different way to the past; they no longer hoard items at will. In both Japan and Taiwan, there have been many books published about decluttering with experts teaching people how to organize everything in the home. Of these, there are many works in Chinese translated from Japanese. However, although these translations from Japanese into Chinese are quite common, the problems surrounding translations have rarely been discussed. The present study analyzes descriptions of decluttering steps, storage techniques, and emotions in these books, classifying them into four categories: "hard to translate text,""storage performance,""onomatopoeia,"and "hard to translate text."The aim is to examine the differences in the forms of expression between Chinese and Japanese in books related to decluttering, and to discuss what strategies translators use to solve problems during the translation process. The present study will carry out an analysis and discussion based on commercially available books, providing an effective and specific reference strategy for the translation of text on organizing and decluttering; this will contribute to the future teaching of translation. |
