「深度基準」是國家測量製圖所需要之基準之一,其使用區域主要為周邊海域。「深度基準」與「高程基準」一樣,均為垂直維度,但是基本特性與需求不同。臺灣四面環海,「深度基準」對於各項航行、海岸與海洋之開發與管理,實為十分重要。本文僅就「深度基準」之基本特性予以描述,並由現行狀態、國際發展,探討臺灣及其周邊海域「深度基準」之建立與維護。並期待藉由現代化「深度基準」之使用,能達成國內海洋與海岸資源之更佳之經營管理,並能與國際接軌,在全球防災面上,能與全球框架連接。 “Depth datum” is an important fundamental national datum for surveying and mapping. It is mainly applied in the surrounding marine area. “Depth datum” is also a vertical datum, the same as the height datum used in land, but with significantly different requirements and characteristics. Taiwan is an island, surrounded by sea. An effective “depth datum” is very valuable for coastal and marine development and management. This article briefly describes the nature of “depth datum”. Based on the current status in Taiwan, and the international trend, the improvement/establishment of “depth datum” in Taiwan is explored. It is anticipated that a well-defined “depth datum” could facilitate better development and management of Taiwan coastal and marine area. And, with globalization in mind, this depth datum could link Taiwan into the global hazard mitigation system.

“Depth datum” is an important fundamental national datum for surveying and mapping.
