Four Decades of Traditional Chinese Medicine Expertise - Summarizing Professor Jaung-Geng Lin's Contributions and Extraordinary Achievements

林昭庚教授為台灣中醫學家，並同時兼具中醫師、西醫師資格，其對於中西醫學之學養深厚，是台灣第一位中醫針灸博士，更是獲得教育部頒授中醫教授資格的第一位學者，其四十餘年中醫生涯，對於台灣中醫做出的重要貢獻，功不可沒。本篇人物誌以筆者對林教授中醫藥學術研究活動多年為基礎，再細考其人生平、履歷、思想特質，將收集到的資料加以歸類，並從中選擇部分具有代表性的資料加以整理勾勒的最新成果，不僅記錄了台灣針灸實證醫學領域之拓展及中西醫結合之重要性，亦是啟迪後學、樹立一個積極實踐的優質典範。林教授畢生致力於中醫藥與針灸實證醫學，近年來更屢將其卓越之中醫針灸實證醫學研究推向世界舞台，倍受國際醫界高度肯定，大大有效提升台灣在國際間的能見度，讓全世界再次看見中醫針灸科學的顯著效果。 Professor Jaung-Geng Lin is a highly acclaimed doctor of both traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine in Taiwan. He was the first certified professor of traditional Chinese medicine in Taiwan, along with also being the first acupuncture professor in Taiwan. Professor Lin has made countless important contributions to traditional Chinese medicine over the last four decades. His efforts and achievements in education, academia and management laid the foundation for and has had a tremendous impact on the later generations of traditional Chinese medicine professionals in both Taiwan and the world. This article is based on Professor Lin's academic research on traditional Chinese medicine. It will reference his life, experiences, and ideological characteristics. The article will also discuss the achievements of Professor Lin in recent years on the international stage. For example, in early 2017, Professor Lin attended the 140th WHO Executive Board meeting in Geneva as a keynote speaker. His address was titled: ＂The Use of Acupuncture in Emergency Medical Services.＂ Professor Lin is the first and only scholar from Taiwan to be invited to attend a WHO meeting since Taiwan's exit from the UN in 1971. Hopefully, Professor Lin's efforts can enhance Taiwan's visibility in the international community, so that the world will once again see the significance of traditional Chinese medicine scientific evidence along with the benefits of acupuncture.
