The rapidly changing knowledge and information society in the 21st century is forcing STEM towards STEAM. Society expects that the deep integration of art can balance many shortcomings of education that surround science and technology alone. However, STEAM education currently faces the great challenge of how arts are connected and how to integrate STEM education. The process from STEM to STEAM is arduous. Resolving STEM education abuses and STEAM education challenges requires an indepth analysis of the artistic role itself. In fact, the “A” in STEAM education contains five contents such as fine arts, six-dimensional concepts such as the Big arts, and four functions that enhance creativity and so on. Hetland et al. provided a model for the successful docking of arts and STEM education in Studio Thinking Framework, and Bresler provided the necessary support and structure for the integration of art into STEM education. The STEAM education campaign will be a hot issue in the education field for a long time to come. There are three aspects to promote the in-depth development of STEAM education. One is to attach importance to the interdisciplinary concept, the second is to emphasize the practice based on art, and the third is to tap appropriate educational resources. |
