公義與私情──重探胡傳宦遊台灣時的心境

Common Justice and Personal Sentiment: Hu Chuan’s Mental State while Acting as an Official in Taiwan

胡傳是胡適的父親，或因胡適成名之故，甚早便吸引學者的研究。關於其人的形象，一般多著重描繪公義面，實非全貌；本文特別結合其私情面的探討，試圖重新瞭解一個較完整的胡傳其人。胡傳私情面的突顯，與其晚年宦遊台灣的經驗相關。以此為探討起點，本文首先說明胡傳基本上頗排斥來台，被迫來台後亦屢請內渡，並歸納其緣由所在。其次，透過考察胡傳的自我探索，論述其人來台之前即已排斥的根本原因，係出自對家庭的牽掛，而不願冒險遠遊。再次，結合胡傳來台前的作品，論其「家／國」間的辯證思維之演變，而發現由早期「國勝於家」漸向「家勝於國」傾斜，宦遊台灣時的心境即是此趨勢的進一步彰顯。文章的最後，將胡傳重新定位、詮釋為一個「清代台灣宦遊文人」之身分，其人其書，在台灣古典文學史上，都應有重視的必要。

Hu Chuan（胡傳） is Hu Shi’s（胡適） father. Perhaps because Hu Shibecomes famous, have scholars to study Hu Chuan very early. But their researchresults, relatively focus on the common justice aspect. This is one-sided. My articleespecially focuses on the personal sentiment aspect, hope to understand Hu Chuanmore completely. Hu Chuan comes out conspicuously on the personal relationshipsaspect, with he reach Taiwan act as experience of officer have something to do. Myarticle prove Hu Chuan is it be Britain to repel very much at first, and sum up hisreason. Secondly, probing into Hu Chuan’s care of the family, it is he that repels thebasic reason of going to Taiwan. Then, combine the works that Hu Chuan beforeTaiwanned, probe into how he will go to ponder over relation with “the country” of “thefamily”. Finally, understand Hu Chuan into Taiwanese the officer the last Qing officer,works of he and him, should be worth paying attention to in research of the classicalliterature history of Taiwan.
