傅斯年自小生長過程中受中西方文化薰陶，造就他能挾以西方科學知識與方法，對中國學科進行省思與創新。傅氏治學兼具中西之學的特色，他認為做學問要使用科學方法，研究問題時，不受理論系統及學科範圍侷限，在使用資料方面重視第一手的材料，重視擴充新材料、新工具、新方法等三大研究方向。對事物必須抱有懷疑的精神，作為追求真理的動力，使得最後研究成果能直指真理。他重視文論的實用價值，知識學問要對社會大眾及國家有所助益，使學術可為社會服務，不至於淪為空談。平日生活習慣則是保持廣泛閱讀，隨時記錄、整理心得，有助於學術研究時的取材，節省許多找尋材料的時間，以收事半功倍之效。

Fu was nurtured by western and eastern culture when he was a child. He took very good advantage of his growth background which made him rely on his western scientific knowledge and approach to his innovation of Chinese knowledge in the future. Fu's theory contented the feature of Chinese and Western knowledge. He thought people should study by using science method. Doing research should not restrict to theory system or scope of since knowledge. Be sure to apply firsthand data to the reference, stress on three major directions in extending new material, new implements and new approach. People should pursue the truth by keeping doubts, so that we could say the result as the truth. Fu took the practical theory into account seriously. He considered the importance of knowledge and expected the knowledge to help the society, the community and countries as well, not just an idle talk.It would be more efficient in doing research and obtaining data when you maintain extensive reading, recording anytime in your daily life.
