This article tries to explain how to pronounce the word, “咋咋”, that was found in “Ding Bo Sold Ghost” (定伯賣鬼) and also illustrates the characteristic makes of interjection. This story, “Ding Bo Sold Ghost”, is one essay of the book, “Ghost Culture in Sou Shen Ji”(搜神記). The story tells that a man called Ding Do(定伯) was walking to the Wan city(宛市). In the journey, he met a ghost. Then they gathered to go to the Wan city. Ding Bo played a trick on the ghost and then caught it. The ghost let out a yell, “咋咋”, in the time of danger. |
