Due to the influence of social development and leisure patterns, leisure behavior has constantly changed and so has the demand on tourism. As the eco-tourism market is gradually mature, our demand, travel mode, and knowledge of eco-tourism have become more diverse. Popular eco-tourism destinations are usually fragile. The Gaomei Wetland is a well-known eco-tourism destination. Yet due to the lack of protection, visitors trespass onto the wetland that caused damage to plants and scattered the birds. With the development of ecological conservation and construction of wooden trails, visitors are no longer allowed to enter the Wetland. Consequently, more plants and birds now live in the Wetland. This study collected visitors’ opinions on the development of the Wetland using observation and in-depth interviews. The prominent findings were listed as follows: (1) A tour guide system should be incorporated in the wetland management. (2) Public transportation and vendors should be improved. (3) More marketing effort is needed. (4) Wetland authorities should demonstrate more responsibilities operating the Wetland, holding conservational activities, and promoting ecology education so as to improve revisit intention. |
