美國腫瘤科醫師濫用化療，判刑45 年，給我們上了一課

Lessons we learned from Dr. Fata’s judgment

美國密西根州底特律聯邦法院，在2015 年7 月10 日宣判：底特律腫瘤科醫師，Farid Fata，因為過度延長化療的治療程和濫用不必要的化療等不當行為，入獄45 年。這個判例，喚醒了我們，警惕了腫瘤科醫師，給台灣醫界上了寶貴的一課。

It is so hard to trust doctors now because of Farid Fata who was sentenced to 45 years in prison this early July by a federal judge in Detroit, Michigan,U.S.A. Dr. Fata, an oncologist who got rich administering unnecessary or excessive chemotherapy to hundreds of his patients, including some who did not have cancer. It is a judgment against him, but we should take warning of his example. Once the same behaviour happens in Taiwan, it will at least take a long time to trust doctors again.
