This case report describes the nursing experience caring for a female patient with obstructive colorectal cancer. We collected the data from October 4, 2011 to November 1, 2011. Gordon's functional health pattern was used for evaluation guidance. The nursing issues identified were suboptimal nutrition, ineffective role performance, conflict in decisions making, and anxiety. Nursing care first started by helping the patient improve nutrition, which led to better physiological comfort. Other nursing measures included listening to her past achievement and current fear, the role reversal from nurse to patient, assisting her in her with making decision about treatment options, and providing her full dietary knowledge regarding bowel surgery, which increase her confidence in choosing what eat. |
