The choice of practice place for Chinese medical graduate student can be a determining factor on the balance for physician human resource geographic distribution of Chinese. It is an important issue to assess the influential factors related to the choice of practice place. The study subject included both the graduating classes of department of Chinese medicine and school of post-baccalaureate Chinese medicine. A structured self-administered questionnaire validated by Chinese medicine expert was used. The complete questionnaire response rate was 56.6%. Statistic analyses included descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis. The result showed that the choice of practice place for Chinese medicine graduate student was positively associated with household register and living nearby parents or relatives but negatively associated with school location and cost-benefit. The determining variables of further practice place associated with the place of work after two years graduation included: male, those aged 25-29, ownership, practice hospital and area economic level. Residential area and cost-benefit were major variables related to working place after 2 years graduation among those who had family medical background. A married person would choose traffic convenient locations but an un-married person would depend on the opinion of parents. The objective of this study is to understand and for the health-related government to apply and consider those determining factors to achieve the best validity, fairness and accessibility of Chinese medicine care service. |
