美國籃球聯盟比賽勝負之關鍵因素採礦研究

Data Mining to Explore the Key Performance Factors in the National Basketball Association

本研究利用資料採礦技術，希望找出美國籃球聯盟比賽勝負的關鍵因素，並且建構出預測比賽勝負的模型。本研究使用1997-1998賽季至2011-2012賽季各球隊每場比賽數據當作訓練資料建構模型，並以2012-2013賽季做為驗證資料微調模型。研究結果發現，比賽場上不穩定的因素確實會影響預測的效果，這個不穩定的因素就是比賽場上的逆轉勝，由於一場球賽的勝負很有可能在最後的關鍵時刻逆轉，這樣的資料會影響到模型的預測能力，因此本研究將兩隊得分差3分以內的場次資料刪除，經過比較也顯示有刪除兩隊得分差3分以內資料的模型比原始全部資料建構的模型好；此外以決策樹模型找出影響勝負之重要變數，並以這些重要變數建立邏輯斯迴歸預測模型，在大量資料下得到了比賽勝負的關鍵因素為投籃命中率、三分球命中率、罰球出手數、失誤、防守籃板、和抄截，正確預測分類的比率高達85%，確實比使用全部資料（其正確預測分類的比率大約為80.88%）所建構的模型有較佳之預測效果。

This study investigates how closely key factors of team in the National Basketball Association (NBA) play up to their potential of winning game. Using the data mining techniques to obtain the correlations among game variables and build the rules of winning game, we provide prediction models of winning game for the 30 NBA teams in the duration of 1997-1998 to 2012-2013 seasons. The game score within 3 points will affect the precision of the prediction model based on the big data. The results after deleting data including the game score within 3 points indicate field goal percentage, 3 point field goal percentage, free throw attempts, turnovers, defensive rebounds, and steals are the key factors affecting the won-lost performance. It provides a better correct classification rate of 85% than the original data set.
