In 2007, 2,179 Dengue Fever cases were confirmed (incidence rate = 9.51 / 105) which was about two times the number of 1,074 the confirmed cases (incidence rate = 4.71 / 105) in 2006. Among them, 179 were imported cases. There were 12 Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever cases reported, including 10 cases from Tainan City, 1 case from Tainan County, and 1 case imported. The characteristics of confirmed dengue cases were as follows: For the 179 imported cases, the sex ratio was 2.0 (2.0:1.0), with 119 male cases (66.5%) and 60 female cases (33.5%). Among them, cases aged 5-14 (n = 9, 5.0%), 15-24 (n = 24, 13.4%), 25-39 (n = 44, 24.6%), 40-64 (n = 96, 53.6%), and more than or equal to 65 years old (n = 6, 3.4%). The imported cases occurred year-round, mostly from June to December. The numbers were especially high in August and October. |
