The structure of the Chinese rural economy has changed dramatically since the late 1970s. This study aims to focus on the facts of the regional inequality of rural economic development in China, and on the causes and effects of those inequalities by official data. The coastal regions experienced rapid growth as a result of liberalization of trade and foreign investment flows. And, the township enterprises have been the main factor of changing rural industrial structure and the utilization of rural labor. The evolution of regional inequality of rural development and the variation of rural household annual per capita living expenditures by regions are larger than before. Agricultural and industrial productions are more concentrated in east China ares. And the variation of agricultural labor productivity by regions is larger than before too. |
