The purpose of this article was to adopt literature review to describe the meditation theory of Buddha. The results are presented as follows:First, the meditation theory of Buddha indicates that the purpose of meditation is to change people’s cognition. The process of meditation is the process of transformation from consciousness to wisdom. Second, Buddha teaches his disciples to practice meditation.He wants them to follow three principles to deal with automatic thoughts. These principles are to treat equally, to observe what things really are, and to focus on here and now. Third, the rationale of meditation not only coincides with the goals ofcounseling, but also enhances the effectiveness of counselors’ skills so as to reduce symptoms of clients. |
