粵語古全濁聲母今讀濁音的類型及成因－－兼論古全濁聲母今讀在方言分區中的作用

Categories and Formation of Voiced Features of the Ancient Voiced Initial Consonants in Yue Dialects: On the Validity of Phonetic Features of the Ancient Voiced Consonants for the Classification of Dialects

論文通過歸納粵語古全濁聲母今讀濁音的類型，重點討論每種類型的成因，並試圖重構原始粵語古全濁聲母的音值。文章認為原始粵語古全濁聲母的音值應為帶有氣嗓音性質的濁音，該音值首先導致粵語的聲調系統分化為陰、陽兩大類型，然後其音值逐步變為一個冗餘特徵，濁音成為冗餘特徵是導致其今後多種演變方向最為重要的原因。論文還重新討論了古全濁聲母今讀在漢語一級方言分區中的有效性，對此我們持否定的態度。

This paper summarizes the categories of the present Cantonese voiced consonants which were evolved from the ancient Cantonese voiced initial consonants, discusses the synchronic formation of each category and attempts to reconstruct the proto-phonetic property of the ancient voiced consonants in Yue Dialects. It presents that the proto-phonetic property of the ancient voiced consonants of Yue dialects should be with a nature of breathy voiced consonant which initially caused the Cantonese tone system to differentiate into two sub-systems of Yin and Yang. The breathy voice then gradually became a redundant feature, which was the foremost reason for it to evolve in multiple directions henceforth. The paper probes as well into the effectiveness of these present voiced consonants’ being classified into the first partition of the modern Chinese dialect classification, towards which it holds a negative view.
