There are several risk factors of acute hypertension, including heart attack and stroke with incidence of about 5-10%. In some cases, acute hypertension may produce vascular symptoms, such as severe headaches, dizziness, tinnitus, and blurred vision. Some patients still complained of a headache even after conventional treatment. This article describes a case report of acupuncture treatment for postmenopausal women suffering from severe headache accompanied with abrupt increase in blood pressure. This was a 55-year-old woman who had suffered from severe headache since 5 day ago. Her symptoms didn't get improved after several treatment. At last, her symptoms improved significantly after receiving through acupuncture at the acupoint Fengchi (GB20). Thereafter, she could move her head could freely without any discomfort. We conclude that acupuncture is an effective and acceptable treatment options for hypertension associated with headache. |
