The Development of Chinese Arden Syntax Editor

臨床決策支援系統有助於醫療從業者的臨床決策。而簡易的知識擷取與模式建立方法又是建立成功臨床決策支援系統的關鍵基礎。針對臨床決策支援系統開發之Arden Syntax醫學邏輯模組便是這樣一種醫學知識編碼方式。本研究的目的便在於開發一中文Arden Syntax編輯器，以支援專家在知識內容上的編寫與維護，並期能在不同的醫療機構間互相使用。本研究以微軟Visual Basic. Net為開發工具，建置一套以Arden Syntax為基礎的醫學邏輯模組編輯器。此系統提供使用者整合的介面以協助醫學邏輯模組的編輯。比對哥倫比亞附設醫院建議的醫學邏輯模組知識庫，本系統支援的Arden Syntax運算子達97％；流程陳述式則為100％。醫學邏輯模組編輯器提供了一個環境能編輯、維護醫學邏輯模組以及解析語法的正確性。系統亦提供Arden Syntax的標準文件供教育、追蹤與維護醫學邏輯模組的參考。未來我們將將醫學邏輯模組編輯器建置的知識庫與醫院資訊系統(HIS)連結，同時配合其他如UMLS、HL7、GLIF標準詞彙或標準。

The clinical decision support systems (CDSSs) have been helpful to medical practitioners. An easy knowledge acquisition (KA) and modeling modality is very important and critical to make successful CDSSs. The Arden Syntax for Medical Logic Modules (MLMs), which was developed to support clinical decision making in particular, is such a language for encoding medical knowledge. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to design a Chinese knowledge acquisition tool of Arden Syntax to facilitate the creation and the maintenance of a knowledge base by the domain expert and its sharing and reuse by other institutions. The Microsoft Visual Basic. Net was used to develop the Arden-Syntax-based knowledge acquisition editor, which provided the user an integrated environment to generate the Arden Syntax MLMs. This Chinese editor could support as many as 97% operators and as high as 100% control flows recommended in the library of Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. The mechanism behind the editor is an integrated system for generating, maintaining and parsing Arden Syntax-based knowledge bases. This editor also embedded documentation of Arden Syntax for educating, tracking and maintaining MLMs. To make the results of this study to be more practical, our next step would be to integrate the systems into the hospital information system. We would further extend its capability by including other standard terminologies and standards, such as UMLS, HL7, GLIF.
