In order to understand the counterfeits of Polygoni Multiflori Radix in Taiwan, 30 Samples obtained from the herb market including Chinese medicine stores. Herb stores and herb vendors at the sightseeing areas were identified by organoleptical observation, histological examination and thin-layer chromatography. The results showed that the percentages of counterfeits of Polygoni Multiflori Radix obtained from Chinese medicine stores, herb stores and vendors at the sightseeing areas were 0%, 92.3%, 100%, respectively, and the counterfeits were identified to be derived from Dioscorea bultifera L. (Dioscoreaceae). |
