In Edo period (1603-1867), kampo medical doctor Nangai Yoshimasu(1750-1813) wrote many medical books including I-Han(醫範)and KigetusuiYakucho( 氣血水藥徵), which contain Qi-Blood-Fluid pattern identificationmedical thoughts. Nangai Yoshimasu and his father Todo Yoshimasu were bothtwo practitioners broadening the disease pattern identification in traditionalmedical field. He was influenced by his father' s theory that all diseases comefrom one toxin but there were many differences in his theory. Nangai Yoshimasuestablished his own body pathophysiological viewpoint called qi-blood-fluidtheory, and widespread in clinical use. Nangai Yoshimasu considered there werethree kinds of the toxin: qi, blood and fluid. Besides, human constitution couldalso be seen as three types: qi-like, blood-like and fluid-like. Now the qi-bloodfluidpattern identification medical thought is one useful method in TCM practice.This article aims to introduce the Qi-Blood-Fluid pattern identification and themedical thoughts of Nangai Yoshimasu. |
