In recent years, due to academic and media announcements, hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy which was pverionsly unknown in the medical field has become widely applied for clinical diseases. With improvements in the hyperbaric chambers of large hospitals, HBO therapy will be a main or auxiliary therapy for critical illnesses such as carbon monoxide poisoning, brain ischemia. When an emergent condition indicates a need for the therapy, limited medical equipment and manpower can be a great challenge for hyperbaric nurses who care for critically ill patients. Complete nursing including hygiene education, pre-evaluation and management for entrance to the chambers, the application of the vital monitors and urgent facilities, and the attention paid to the treatment can be a reference for obtaining better care in the future. |
