In the past years, the mechanism of equipment interoperability and information sharing between medical devices and application hosting devices was insufficient. Based on the number of elderly people in the population is rising, together with the rise of Health2.0 concept, there is a necessary need for intercommunication and exchange measurement data among the various medical devices and application hosting devices. The study proposes a design of the x73-PHD adaptor which as an agent of medical device, enabling the x73-PHD adaptor to collect the measured data and transmit them compliant with the international standard 11073 data format via a USB Personal Health Device Class (PHDC) interface. The design for the x73-PHD adaptor proposed in this paper is based on the MSP430F5529 and ISO/IEEE 11073 standards, which functions as a bridge between the application hosting device and the medical device. It converts vital sign data from the connecting medical device, and then transmits these data to the application hosting device in compliance with ISO/IEEE 11073 personal health device data format and protocol standards via the USB PHDC interface. Based on the testing results, the x73-PHD adaptor converts the measured data from the connecting medical device, TD-3250 blood pressure and blood glucose meter, and connect to Continua application hosting device to exchange healthcare information over the USB PHDC interface successfully. |
