Chronic fatigue syndrome is a disease in neurosis, which is formally defined by the World Health Organization in 1988. Statistics show that at least 100 million people nationwide suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome, female to male four times, and the number has continued to increase. In Taiwan, predilection population is 20 to 50 year-old female white collar workers. Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Council of Labor Affairs indicate that fatigue is not a disease. Normal people feel tired occasionally but will recover after rest. However, chronic fatigue is a form of abnormal state. The organs may have problems at this time, and could not return to normal after sleep or rest. The abnormality could be chronic fatigue syndrome if it lasting for six months or more. This disease is the sum of a series of syndromes and it could occur with other diseases simultaneously under today's busy life and mental stress. Therefore, comprehensively understanding the prevention and treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome in both perceptions of Chinese and conventional medicine is an important issue for traditional Chinese doctors. |
